Migrants on a Mission

"Christians are all missionary migrants", said the Rev Israel Olofinaja on Sunday.

Israel had been invited to preach at CBC by Pieter Lalleman, as Israel is the pastor of a multi cultural church that is involved in mission and community initiatives in Greenwich.

Speaking from Jeremiah 29:1-14, Israel shared that Christians are all migrants on a mission. We are all 'aliens' and 'temporary residents' in a strange land, yet God has a plan and a purpose for us.

Citing recent examples of how we struggle with migration - Windrush; USA border issues; Brexit - Israel spoke of the numerous times in the Bible where God used migration - Abram, Moses, Israel - to achieve His purposes.

But we must start with prayer. What is God calling us to as a church? As an individual?

God can use our story and testimony, how we have overcome adversity, for God has brought us all here as missionaries, to serve and share the good news, and 'migration' is one of God's tools.

In the meantime, seek the prosperity of the people and place where God has settled you; that like Daniel, Esther, Mordechai, maybe we are placed here for a time such as this - for mission & migration go together; who have you been called to serve and share with?
